Multi Post Social vs Buffer vs Hootsuite: An Honest Comparison

Updated · Multi Post Social guide

People searching Multi Post Social vs Buffer or Hootsuite want one thing: a fair table, not a sales page. This comparison lists channels, scheduling, inbox, analytics, listening, AI, team features and pricing for all three, using what the two other companies publish on their own sites as of October 2026. Where Multi Post Social is weaker, the page says so. Prices and features change often; check each company’s site before deciding.

How this comparison was made

Everything about Buffer and Hootsuite below comes from their public pricing and product pages, read in October 2026. We did not test their accounts for this page, we do not quote their users, and we do not rate them. Both are mature, well-regarded products; Buffer has been around since 2010 and Hootsuite since 2008, and both support millions of users. The point of a Multi Post Social vs Buffer or Hootsuite comparison is fit, not winners.

Pricing model and free plan

Multi Post Social and Buffer both charge per channel, which suits small teams: adding a teammate costs nothing on the plans that include unlimited users, and a brand pays as it adds networks. Buffer’s published Essentials and Team prices are around $5 to $6 and $10 to $12 per channel per month depending on billing, and ours are deliberately in the same range so the choice is about fit, not a discount. Hootsuite charges per user with account limits per plan, starting from about $99 per user per month on its Standard plan, and bundles far more into the higher tiers, which fits larger organizations with several people in the tool.

Both Multi Post Social and Buffer have a free plan with 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel that does not expire. Hootsuite offers a 14-day trial instead. Our full plan table, including API limits and support levels, is on the pricing page. Prices change; check each company’s site before deciding.

Where Multi Post Social is weaker today

  • Age and track record. We launched in 2026. Buffer and Hootsuite have years of uptime history, large help centers and communities. Ours are growing; the status page and changelog show what that looks like so far.
  • Integrations. We connect to Canva, Google Drive, Dropbox, Unsplash, Zapier, Make and Slack. Hootsuite lists well over a hundred integrations and apps; Buffer lists more design and storage connections than we do. The integrations guide is the current list.
  • Enterprise depth. Hootsuite’s advanced listening, employee advocacy, review management and benchmarking go further than our Agency and Enterprise plans today.
  • Network coverage edge cases. All three cover the main networks, but the older products have had longer to smooth out format quirks on each one. When a network changes a rule, we may take a little longer to catch up.

Where we are stronger: one data model, so a comment can become a post and a report can explain a slot; listening included from the Essentials plan; and a free plan that includes the inbox and the AI assistant.

Switching without losing your queue

  1. Export your scheduled posts from the current tool as CSV where offered, or copy the next two weeks by hand; most tools do not export queues cleanly.
  2. Create a free account, connect the same channels through each network’s login, and set posting schedules that match your old slots.
  3. Load the posts with bulk upload (Team plan) or the composer, tag them, and check the calendar for gaps.
  4. Run both tools for one week, then disconnect the old one in each network’s connected-apps settings so no duplicate posts go out.

Safe use

Whatever tool you choose, connect channels only through the official network login, remove tools you stop using from each network’s connected apps, and turn on two-factor authentication. Running two schedulers on the same channel for long risks duplicate posts, which networks may treat as spam. See our security guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Multi Post Social a copy of Buffer or Hootsuite?

No. The module names overlap because the work overlaps: every social media tool needs scheduling, an inbox and analytics. Our design decision is one shared data model across modules and listening at lower tiers; our content, code and brand are our own.

Can I move my Buffer or Hootsuite data over?

Channels reconnect through each network, not through the old tool. Posts can be moved by CSV where the old tool exports them, or by copying the next two weeks by hand. Analytics history stays with the network and can be read again once channels are connected.

Which is cheapest?

For 1 to 10 channels and one or two users, per-channel tools (ours and Buffer) are usually cheapest. For a large team sharing many accounts, compare Hootsuite’s per-user price against an Agency bundle. Prices change; check each company’s pricing page.

Why mention competitors at all?

Because people compare before they choose, and a fair table saves everyone time. We would rather you pick the right tool than pick us and leave.
